Declaration of Mr. Yiannis Hatzitheodosiou as an Honorary Doctor of the Department of Industrial Management & Technology
The highest honor awarded by the University of Piraeus, the declaration of an Honorary Doctorate, was received by Yannis Hatzitheodosiou in a ceremony held on April 14, 2022 at the Municipal Theater of Piraeus. In particular, the president of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and president and CEO of MEGA BROKERS, was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of the Department of Industrial Management & Technology of the School of Shipping and Industry of the University of Piraeus. The ceremony was honored by the presence of representatives from National Authorities, professors and students of the University of Piraeus, prominent members of the academic, political and professional spheres of the country, the Local Authorities of the city of Piraeus, etc.
Addressing the honoree, the President of the Department of Industrial Management & Technology, Professor Vassilios Dedousis, emphasized, among other things:
“The overall professional path of Mr. Hatzitheodosiou, from the first steps until today, demonstrates that he is not only a very capable and active businessman, but also that he possesses administrative and leadership skills, which have elevated him to top positions in the chambers’ administration of the country. Mr. Hatjitheodosiou also has very important social work to show, while he has contributed the most to the promotion and support of entrepreneurship, as well as the promotion of innovation, in the vital area of small and medium enterprises. The Department of Industrial Management & Technology of the University of Piraeus, which is the only non-Polytechnic, University Department in the country that focuses on the high-level education of managers of industrial enterprises, considers it its duty to encourage, honor and morally reward personalities such as Mr. Ioannis Hatzitheodosiou. I want to hope that your very successful business career as well as your contribution to the field of chambers of our country, will be an example to follow for the students of our University”.
In his speech, Mr. Hadjitheodosiou said:
“It is a special honor for me and a highlight in my career, being declared an Honorary Doctor of the University of Piraeus. Only at the birth of my children did I feel more emotion. With hard work and passion I managed to develop professionally and I feel particularly proud to belong to the category of self-made entrepreneurs. At the same time, however, I participated in the commons with the sole aim of offering even a small amount of help to change our society and the business environment for the better. Through my new capacity, as an Honorary Doctor of the Department of Industrial Management & Technology of the University of Piraeus, I will try to bring the student youth closer to the world of business, contributing to the strengthening of employment and the retention and utilization of the new generation in their place”.
