The academic identity, provided through centralized online services of the Ministry of Education, Research and Religions, is in the form of a plastic or smart card and supports multiple benefits-privileges for all members of Greek higher education institutions.

All undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students can apply online for their academic credentials. It is designed to be valid for many years of student status and to cover multiple uses, in addition to the Student Pass (Pass). The IDs are delivered at the point of receipt chosen by each beneficiary at the time of submission of his application, at no cost. The new IDs indicate the exact period of validity of the Student Ticket entitlement, and in the event that the holder is not entitled to a Student Ticket, the card is in place of a simple ID.

Through the e-Class system, the faculty further supports the educational process. Notes, announcements, assignments, and other educational material are posted on the system for each lecture. Students have access to it through their personal account. Information on the use of the system is provided by the faculty.

EVDOXOS is an Online Integrated Textbook Management Service. It provides students with instant and complete access to their curriculum vitae and offers:

  • full information on the textbooks provided in each course
  • ability to receive texts immediately and
  • access to free e-books and notes.

Access to the service is provided through the personal codes of each student.

Microsoft Imagine is provided by Microsoft and gives students and faculty of the University of Piraeus the ability to download and use Microsoft software free of charge through their personal codes. The software provided through the service is intended solely for educational or research use and may be installed on the personal computers of the teaching staff or students.

The software distributed through the service at the Department of Industrial Management & Technology includes all versions of Windows and the Visio and Project packages, while Microsoft Office is not included.

Microsoft Office 365 Education Plus software is also available to all students and staff of the University through https://delos365.grnet.gr, using their personal codes. Detailed instructions on the activation process can be found in the University Guide: Office 365 Account Activation Guide.

VPN (Virtual Private Network) is offered to the entire academic community of University of Piraeus. It allows users, when connected to the Internet through alternative providers, to access services available exclusively through the institution’s network, such as using library subscriptions to access online journals and articles. Using the VPN service creates a secure communication channel between the user’s computer and the institution’s network, through which all network traffic passes through that computer, and the user’s computer obtains an IP address coming from the University of Piraeus network.

To connect to the service you need:

  • PC with internet connection through an alternative provider.
  • Institutional account (username and password) provided by Piraeus University.
  • The right connection software depending on your operating system type.

The University’s premises are covered by a free wireless wi-fi network (ssid: unipi), to which anyone can connect to use Internet navigation services.

Authorized users also have access to the Eduroam International Academic Network (www.eduroam.gr), which enables users from the global academic community to remotely and securely access the services provided by their academic institution. On the https://www.eduroam.org/where/ page you can see the countries participating in the Eduroam network. To set up your device to access network services via the Eduroam network (ssid: unipi), it is necessary to install software depending on your device’s operating system. Visit https://cat.eduroam.org/?idp=1958 and select your device’s operating system from the list of available platforms, following the instructions provided in the corresponding help button. Caution! The login information is the one you use to sign in to University services, but you will have to fill in your entire institutional account, i.e., @ unipi.gr .

The action is aimed at providing digital services to eligible undergraduate first-year students in the Greece, who were first enrolled in a Higher Education Institution during the current academic year.

All eligible first-year students are able to obtain or maintain an Internet connection by providing broadband internet subscriptions (fixed or mobile) for twelve (12) months.

The Proposal Body is the General Secretariat of Telecommunications and Post (GSRT) and the National Research and Technology Network (GRNET SA). The funding body for the Action is the National Telecommunications and Post Commission (EETT).

The implementation of the action is done by the Voucher method. One coupon corresponds to each recipient. The maximum total value of the voucher is five euros (5.00 €) per month. The total value of the voucher covers up to eighty percent (80%) of the recipients’ fixed or mobile broadband monthly subscription.

The service offers free access to innovative cloud computing services (dynamic and on-demand computing / network / storage resources) for all members of the research and education community. The service is available in the form of public infrastructure-as-a-service (Infrastracture as a Service). Through the service, any academic user can create a multi-level virtual infrastructure by combining simpler virtual blocks: it activates hundreds of virtual machines in a matter of seconds, which it interconnects through virtual networks on random topologies, either in virtual storage or in virtual storage.
