SHORT CV
Charoula Kousiatza received her Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics from the University of Patras (2008–2013). She subsequently obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Computational Mechanics from the National Technical University of Athens in 2019, where her research focused on the design and optimization of additively manufactured orthopedic devices using Topology Optimization. In the same year, she completed her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Piraeus. Her doctoral research focused on in-situ and real-time monitoring of polymeric and composite structures fabricated through Additive Manufacturing (AM) – 3D Printing technologies, utilizing Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors.
Dr. Kousiatza has been actively involved in several National and European research projects and has held senior and managerial research-focused positions within companies, specializing in innovative product development through 3D Printing. She has also served as a Visiting Researcher at Texas A&M University, USA, where she investigated the employment of shape-memory polymers in the 3D Printing technology, aiming at the design and fabrication of patient-specific medical devices. Moreover, she has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in engineering disciplines at Greek higher education institutions.
Her research work includes publications in high-impact international peer-reviewed journals, numerous contributions to national and international conferences, and a steadily growing body of citations reflecting the impact of her work.
