Received the Dipl. Ing. degree from the National Technical University of Athens (Mechanical Engineering, 1981), and the M.Sc. (with distinction) and Ph.D. degrees in Computational Aerodynamics from Imperial College London (Aeronautics 1983, 1988). Carried out post-doctoral research in the field of advanced aerodynamic design in the Lab. of Thermal Turbomachines of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Nat. Tech. Univ. of Athens (1988-1996). In 1993 joined the Dept. of Industrial Management & Technology of the University of Piraeus, where is currently Professor in ‘Industrial Systems Techniques (with emphasis to computational/numerical techniques and rapid product development)’. Is the Director of the Lab. of ‘Advanced Manufacturing Technologies & Testing’, and is leading the ‘Industrial Systems Research Group’ (ISyReG). He has translated and edited a book on ‘Technologies of Additive Manufacturing & 3D Printing’. Is also co-author of two ebooks on ‘CAD Systems’ and ‘ Computer Aided Manufacturing Technologies’. Has published more than 70 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings. His published work focuses on CAE of aircraft, industrial and power installations as well as commercial product components. His research interests include a CAD and Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing applications for product design and development, medicine and health-care, as well as computational tools for optimizing industrial processes and energy systems. Has collaborated with leading manufacturing companies and research institutes in the framework of applied research projects funded by the EU and Greek institutions/organizations. Is a reviewer to major international technical journals and conferences. Had been member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (1982-1990) and the American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics (1990-1996). Is member of the Technical Chamber of Greece and the Greek Association of Computational Mechanics.
